Description

Specifications -

INVERSION OF SINGLE SLIDER CRANK MECHANISM, working model consisting of four links with three turning pairs and one sliding pair, comprising graduated crank disc, connecting rod, slider and linear guide arrangement with angular and linear measurement scales. The model shall demonstrate inversion of a single slider crank chain, rotary-to-reciprocating motion, crank angular displacement and slider displacement. Manually operated, rigid metal construction and suitable for Theory of Machines/Kinematics laboratory experiments.

Range of Experiments

  1. Study the inversion of a single slider crank chain.
  2. Identification and study of four links of the mechanism.
  3. Study of three turning pairs and one sliding pair.
  4. Demonstration of rotary to reciprocating motion.
  5. Study of crank angular displacement using the graduated circular scale.
  6. Measurement of slider displacement using the linear graduated scale.
  7. Study of the relationship between crank angle and slider position.
  8. Demonstration of different inversions of the single slider crank mechanism.
  9. Study of the kinematic motion of crank, connecting rod and slider.
  10. Determination/study of velocity and acceleration of the slider from measured mechanism dimensions and positions.
