Specifications

Ackerman steering mechanism is a manually operated working model designed for Theory of Machines, Kinematics and Automobile Engineering Laboratory applications. It consists of two steering wheel assemblies, graduated angular scales, steering arms, connecting linkage and a central operating knob, mounted on a rigid metal panel. The model demonstrates the Ackerman steering principle, in which the inner and outer wheels turn through different angles during steering to facilitate proper cornering. It is suitable for studying steering geometry, wheel angular displacement, linkage movement and Ackerman steering condition, and requires no external power supply.
